WFC on “EPLWA Home Towns”

A visit to Wenatchee, Washington, USA…Home Town of Wenatchee FC “Capitals” and supporters group The Bridge Mafia.

“EPLWA Home Towns sponsored by Ruffneck Scarves” makes its debut this season as a web TV show that goes on the scene at home matches of Evergreen Premier League clubs and captures the experience of players and fans and shares them online.

“We really want to share the growing club cultures in our league and to share the experiences of match day around the state of Washington,” says EPLWA Director of Communications David Falk. “So we are using the platform of this internet video show to bring the Evergreen Premier League to a wider audience.” The show will air on the EPLWA YouTube Channel and will share clips on the EPLWA Facebook Page.

Ruffneck Scarves has been a league partner since the very beginning. The soccer scarf company was eager to help with the project. They are supplying production equipment.

WFC goes with Under Armour

under-armour-logo_largeAfter a long and thorough process to find a product that will fulfill several needs for Wenatchee FC and Wenatchee FC Youth, we are excited to announce that we are now officially an Under Armour Club. Under Armour is one of the fastest growing companies in the soccer market around the world.

“They produce an extremely well constructed, durable, functional, stylish and comfortable product that we believe will suit our needs well,” says Wenatchee FC Youth Marketing Director Matt Wisen.

“Under Armour will be well represented in our club with warmups, kits, backpacks, coaches apparel, banners at games, soccer balls, pinnies, base layers, and more.”

Starting May 3, players and fans will begin seeing UA products on the field kicking off with the Wenatchee FC semi pro. The Capitals will debut white shirts with black shorts in the home opener at Wenatchee Valley Community College when WFC hosts the Spokane Shadow at 6 PM in an Evergreen Premier League match.

“We will wear white shirts, black shorts and white socks at home this season,” says Capitals co-owner Javier Reyna. “We will continue with the Joma kits when we are away (Yellow, Black) for this season, and then wear Under Armor blacks away starting in 2016.”

Capitals drop opener in Seattle

EVERETT, WA—Seattle Stars FC got two first-half goals on Saturday night at Goddard Stadium and held on to edge Wenatchee FC 2-1 in the first match on the 2015 Evergreen Premier League Schedule.

Wenatchee FC had earlier control of the match in the Seattle end with consecutive corner kicks. The first featured a header that Seattle goalkeeper Scott Barnum tipped over the crossbar. After that though the Stars dominated the half.

In the 10th minute Cornelius Ieremie became the first goal-scorer of 2015 when he put the Stars up 1-0.

It was 2-0 Seattle 15 minutes later when Ieremie directed the ball towards goal and Peiman Alessandro finished the job for the score.

Wenatchee continued to struggle to gain possession and the half ended 2-0 for the Stars.

In the second half the Capitals eased into the match. Their possession increased, and finally in the 65th minute they were given new hope when Josh Alvarez headed home a goal that started out of a Wenatchee throw-in (assist) from Fabian Alvarez.

Chances were exchanged the rest of the way, but the Stars kept the Capitals out to claim the 2-1 win. It is Seattle’s third straight win over Wenatchee. Last year as the EPLWA was launched Seattle topped the Capitals 5-1 and 2-1.

This week Wenatchee comes home to celebrate the Apple Blossom Festival and then host the defending champion Spokane Shadow Sunday May 3 at 6 PM at Wenatchee Valley Community College.
